Thinking Threads – A commited member of Young Fair Trade Advocates, yawns for the future of coffee farmers

If you’re a coffee drinker, like me, you might find it hard to imagine your mornings without that first cup.

However, by 2050, about 50% of areas suitable for coffee production might dissappear due to climate change.

There are ways to mitigate this but a lot falls down to the sholders of small farmers. They could invest in better ways to cultivate and make their business (and the future of morning coffee) resilient.

But because of the unfair trade practices, most coffee farmers struggle to make the ends meet. Let alone invest in practices that could help them out.

That is why I’m joining #SaveCoffee campaign by @fairtrade_belgium . We recognise that climate change is a justice and humanitarian issue. And we call for Fair Trade becoming a standard.

So, my fellow coffee drinkers: will you support #Fairtrade with me?
